About Rivaroxaban 2.5mg Tablets
Buy Rivaroxaban 2.5 mg Tablets online. Each tablet contains 2.5 mg of rivaroxaban, an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It is the same active ingredient as the reference brand Xarelto. In the USA, UK and Australia it is a prescription medicine, so a valid prescription is needed for your order. See today's price above and add it to your cart.
The 2.5 mg tablet is the low dose, taken twice a day together with aspirin. It is used to lower the risk of heart attacks, strokes and blocked leg arteries in people with heart or artery disease, and not to treat clots. Approved uses and legal status differ between countries, so this page covers the USA, UK, Australia, the UAE and Russia.

Never change brand or strength without your prescriber's advice.

How it works
Rivaroxaban is a direct factor Xa inhibitor, a type of anticoagulant (blood thinner). Factor Xa is a protein the body needs to make blood clots. By blocking it, rivaroxaban makes the blood less likely to form clots in the veins, in the heart or in narrowed arteries. It does not dissolve clots that have already formed, and it does not cure the underlying condition.
Uses
Coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease: rivaroxaban 2.5 mg is taken twice a day with low-dose aspirin to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death in adults with coronary artery disease or symptomatic peripheral artery disease who are at high risk of ischaemic events.
After an acute coronary syndrome: the UK product information also describes 2.5 mg twice a day, with aspirin alone or aspirin plus clopidogrel or ticlopidine, after a heart attack or unstable angina with raised cardiac markers.
What it is not for: the 2.5 mg tablet is not the dose used to treat clots in the veins or to prevent stroke in atrial fibrillation, which use higher strengths. Your prescriber chooses the right strength for you.
Dosage and how to take it
The UK product information describes one 2.5 mg tablet twice a day, taken with aspirin 75 to 100 mg once a day. After an acute coronary syndrome, treatment is usually given for up to 12 months and is started as soon as possible after stabilisation. It can be taken with or without food.
Dosing rules vary by country. The US label describes 2.5 mg twice a day with aspirin 75 to 100 mg once a day for coronary and peripheral artery disease. Always take it with the aspirin your prescriber has told you to use. Kidney function is checked, and the dose may need review. Always follow the leaflet in the pack and the advice of your prescriber or pharmacist.
Storage Instructions
Store the tablets in their original pack, following any storage instructions printed on it. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
Possible side effects
- Bleeding, including nosebleeds, bleeding gums and bruising easily
- Heavier or longer periods in women
- Blood in urine, stool or vomit
- Anaemia (feeling tired or pale)
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Itching or skin rash
- Raised liver enzymes on blood tests
Seek urgent medical help for heavy or uncontrolled bleeding, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, coughing up blood, a severe headache, sudden weakness or confusion after a fall or blow to the head, or swelling of the face, lips or throat. Tell any doctor or dentist that you take an anticoagulant before any procedure.
Safety
- Bleeding risk: rivaroxaban makes bleeding more likely and can cause serious or fatal bleeding. Do not use if you have active bleeding or a condition with a high bleeding risk.
- Do not stop suddenly: stopping early raises the risk of a stroke or blood clot. The US label carries a boxed warning on this. Only stop on your prescriber's advice.
- Spinal or epidural procedures: blood clots around the spine can cause paralysis after a spinal puncture or epidural. Tell your doctor you take rivaroxaban.
- Other medicines: aspirin, NSAIDs, other anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines raise bleeding risk. Strong CYP3A4 and P-gp inhibitors such as ketoconazole, itraconazole and ritonavir, and inducers such as rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin and St John's wort, change its effect and may mean it should not be used.
- Kidney and liver disease: the dose may need to change in kidney disease, and rivaroxaban is not for liver disease with a bleeding tendency. Your prescriber will check your kidney function.
- Artificial heart valves and antiphospholipid syndrome: rivaroxaban is not recommended with mechanical heart valves or in triple-positive antiphospholipid syndrome.
- Surgery and dental work: your treatment may need to be paused before surgery. Do not pause it yourself.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: the UK product information says it must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Use effective contraception while taking it.
- Allergy: do not use if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any ingredient. The tablets contain lactose.
- Carry an alert card: keep the patient alert card from the pack with you and show it to any healthcare professional.
This page provides general product information and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Rivaroxaban is a prescription anticoagulant and must not be stopped suddenly. Take it only as directed by your prescriber. Follow the official product information and the guidance of a healthcare professional.
