About Fosfomycin 3g Sachet
Buy Fosfomycin 3 g Sachet online. Each sachet contains 3 g of fosfomycin (as fosfomycin trometamol, also called fosfomycin tromethamine), a single-dose antibiotic used to treat uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections such as cystitis. It contains the same active ingredient as the reference brands Monuril and Monurol. In the USA, UK and Australia it is a prescription medicine, so a valid prescription is needed for your order. See today's price above and add it to your cart.
One sachet is a complete course, which makes fosfomycin convenient when taking tablets several times a day is difficult. It treats bacterial infections only and does not work against viruses. Approved uses and legal status differ between countries, so this page covers the USA, UK, Australia, the UAE and Russia.

How it works
Fosfomycin stops bacteria from building their cell walls by blocking an early step in the process. Without a proper cell wall the bacteria die. After a single dose, fosfomycin reaches high levels in the urine and stays there for around two to three days, which is why one sachet can clear a bladder infection.
Uses
Uncomplicated cystitis: fosfomycin 3 g is used to treat acute, uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract caused by susceptible bacteria such as E. coli. The US label covers women aged 18 and over, and the UK product information covers adult women and girls aged 12 and over.
What it is not for: it is not licensed for kidney infections (pyelonephritis), complicated urinary infections or infections in men. See a doctor promptly if you have fever, back or side pain, or blood in the urine.
Antibiotics should only be taken when prescribed. Your prescriber may arrange a urine test first to make sure fosfomycin suits the infection.
Dosage and how to take it
The usual dose for adults is the contents of one 3 g sachet taken once as a single dose. Empty the sachet into a glass containing about 75 ml (a half cup) of cool water, stir until dissolved and drink straight away. Do not use hot water. Take it on an empty stomach, about two to three hours after a meal, and ideally at bedtime after emptying the bladder.
Symptoms usually start to improve within two to three days. Do not take a second sachet unless your prescriber tells you to. If symptoms have not improved after a few days or you develop a fever, contact your doctor. Always follow the leaflet in the pack and the advice of your prescriber or pharmacist.
Storage Instructions
Store the sachets in their original pack, following any storage instructions printed on it, usually at room temperature. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date. Use the dissolved solution straight away.
Possible side effects
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Stomach pain or heartburn
- Vaginal irritation or thrush
- Back pain
- Runny nose
- Skin rash or itching
Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing or a severe skin reaction. Severe or bloody diarrhoea during or up to a few weeks after antibiotics can be a sign of C. difficile infection and needs medical advice.
Safety
- Allergy: do not use if you are allergic to fosfomycin or any ingredient. The granules contain sucrose and flavourings.
- Kidney disease: not suitable for severe kidney impairment or for people on dialysis, because it may not reach effective levels in the urine.
- Metoclopramide: medicines that speed up the stomach, such as metoclopramide, can lower fosfomycin levels in blood and urine. Tell your pharmacist what you take.
- Persistent symptoms: if symptoms last more than a few days or you have fever, see a doctor, as a stronger or different antibiotic may be needed.
- Diarrhoea: avoid anti-diarrhoea medicines until you have spoken to a doctor if diarrhoea is severe.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: use only if your prescriber decides it is necessary. Small amounts pass into breast milk.
- Children: the UK product information covers girls aged 12 and over. It is not for younger children.
- Antibiotic resistance: use only when prescribed and take as directed, so the antibiotic keeps working.
- Diabetes and sugar: the granules contain sucrose. Tell your prescriber if you have diabetes or fructose intolerance.

FAQs
What is fosfomycin 3 g sachet used for?
It treats uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections (cystitis) in women, using one sachet as a single dose. It does not treat kidney infections or infections in men. Your prescriber decides whether it suits your infection.
What is the reference brand of fosfomycin?
The reference (original) brands are Monurol in the USA and Monuril in the UK and Europe. Fosfomycin 3 g is also sold under other names and as generic granules. Always check the strength and manufacturer on the pack you receive.
Do I need a prescription for fosfomycin?
Yes. In the USA, UK and Australia, fosfomycin is a prescription medicine. Upload your prescription at checkout or on the Upload prescription page, and our pharmacist will check it before dispatch.
How do I buy fosfomycin 3 g sachet online?
Choose your pack, add it to your cart and check out securely. Because a prescription is required, upload it at checkout or on the Upload prescription page. Our pharmacist checks it before dispatch, and you can follow your order from your account.
How do I take fosfomycin 3 g granules?
Mix the contents of one sachet into about half a glass of cool water, stir well and drink at once. Take it on an empty stomach, ideally at bedtime after emptying your bladder. Do not take a second dose unless told to.
How quickly does fosfomycin work?
Most people feel better within two to three days of the single dose, because the antibiotic stays in the urine for about that long. Contact your doctor if symptoms have not improved, or if you develop a fever or back pain.
Can I take fosfomycin with food?
It is best taken on an empty stomach, about two to three hours after a meal, because food can slow its absorption. Drink the dissolved dose straight away, and avoid taking it with metoclopramide unless advised.
Is one sachet enough to treat a bladder infection?
For uncomplicated cystitis, yes. A single 3 g dose is the full course. If symptoms return or do not improve after a few days, see your doctor, as you may need a urine test or a different antibiotic.
Can I use fosfomycin in pregnancy or when breastfeeding?
Only if your prescriber decides it is necessary. Fosfomycin crosses the placenta and small amounts enter breast milk. Always tell your prescriber if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
What are the common side effects of fosfomycin?
The most common are diarrhoea, nausea, headache and vaginal irritation. These are usually mild. Seek medical advice for severe or bloody diarrhoea, a rash or any allergic reaction.
Which countries do you deliver to?
