About Acamprosate 333mg Tablets
Buy Acamprosate 333 mg Tablets online. Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 333 mg of acamprosate calcium, used to help adults who have stopped drinking alcohol to stay abstinent. It contains the same active ingredient as the reference brand Campral. In the USA, UK and Australia it is a prescription medicine, so a valid prescription is needed for your order. See today's price above and add it to your cart.
Acamprosate does not treat withdrawal and does not make drinking harmful, so it is started after detoxification and used together with counselling and support. Approved uses and legal status differ between countries, so this page covers the USA, UK, Australia, the UAE and Russia.

How it works
The brain of a person with long-term alcohol dependence becomes unbalanced after drinking stops, with overactive glutamate and underactive GABA signalling. Acamprosate is thought to help restore this balance, which lowers the craving and the discomfort that push people towards drinking again. It does not stop a person from becoming drunk if they drink.
Uses
Maintaining abstinence from alcohol: acamprosate is used to help adults with alcohol dependence stay abstinent after they have stopped drinking, as part of a programme that includes counselling.
When treatment starts: it is started as soon as possible after withdrawal, ideally while the person is still abstinent. It is not a treatment for acute withdrawal.
Acamprosate works best when you want to stop drinking and have support. If you drink again, do not stop the tablets on your own, but speak to your doctor, as treatment can often continue.
Dosage and how to take it
The UK product information describes, for adults weighing more than 60 kg, two 333 mg tablets three times a day (six tablets, 1,998 mg, a day), taken with meals. For adults weighing less than 60 kg, four tablets are taken in the morning, two at midday and two at night. Swallow the tablets whole with water, and do not crush or chew them.
The US label describes two 333 mg tablets three times daily, with a lower dose of one tablet three times daily for moderate kidney impairment. Treatment is usually continued for about a year, as advised by your prescriber. Always follow the leaflet in the pack and the advice of your prescriber or pharmacist.
Storage Instructions
Store the tablets in their original pack at room temperature, following any storage instructions on it. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
